About the Festival
This festival is a fundraiser for the non-profit FOYC. Visitors to the park enjoy free water-front activities, races, live music, and other outdoor experiences. FOYC will be selling food, so no food sales is allowed.

Conditions

This event will be limited to the first 20 exhibitors to register. An exhibitors space will be marked off; you may use a 12′ x 12′ space, which will be on the grass in the Yellow Creek “Day Use” area facing the water. Please bring needed tables or shelves for display. Pop-up canopies or shelters are permissable and should be staked down. Unfortunately we cannot provide electric power; generators are not permitted.

To participate, please use the form below. You will be asked to provide basic contact information. As this is our first year with craft sales, we will not charge any registration fee. If you have a good day, we encourage you to support FOYC by becoming a member!
The sign-up form will be closed once we have twenty registrants. Please let us know if you need to cancel, so that we can offer the space to another person.

Earth Day Spring Cleanup

Sunday, April 21, 2013 – EARTH DAY SPRING CLEAN-UP

1:00pm – 4:00pm – Meet at the North Shore Pavilion

Come join us to celebrate Earth Day this year at Yellow Creek State Park.  We need your help to upgrade the trails, construct a playground, plant trees, upkeep of Native Species and Herb Gardens and help stone the walkways in our Camping Cottage & Yurt area.  Bring sturdy shoes, work clothes, work gloves and bring a friend. We have projects for all ability levels and the work party will be on, rain or shine.  If you have a large group of volunteers (Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts etc.), please contact Mike Shaffer at (724) 357-7913 to discuss appropriate projects for your group’s numbers and abilities that day.  This event is sponsored by Friends of Yellow Creek and Yellow Creek State Park.  Food and refreshments will be on hand thanks to the generosity of Friends of Yellow Creek.  Pre-registration is required, so we know how much food to get and provide enough work projects for everyone.  To register call the Park Office at (724) 357-7913.

Can you help out at Septemberfest?

Dear Friend:

FOYC volunteer and board members have been working together to make sure the 3rd Annual Septemberfest is every bit as exciting as last year.

We hope you will join us at the park, Saturday, September 29th, with your friends or family. Septemberfest is our most important opportunity to celebrate the park, attract new visitors, and raise some money for park improvement projects.

Would you consider also giving an hour or two of your time to help us run the event?  If you can give us an hour or two, please provide your information here.  A board member will contact you next week.

Thanks.  We’ll see you at the park!

Board co-chair,

Ken Sherwood

Sailboat Building Opportunity – 2 Spots Left

A Puddle Duck Racer “hatch” is scheduled by the Friends of Yellow Creek for March 2012.

The PDR is an economical, safe, and easy-to-build box boat designed for beginners and families, as well as being suitable for experienced sailors who wish to build XL sails and race. Six Indiana families built them as FOYC projects during 2011 and sailed at Yellow Creek State Park this past summer.

FOYC volunteers will lead a group-build next month.  The basic hull can be completed in one day; families then take home the boats for sanding and painting.  Cost is approximately $200; only basic carpentry skills are required. Currently 2 slots remain for families who would like to be involved.

FOYC co-chair Ken Sherwood observes “it is a great winter project.”  “This year the Friends will also be sponsoring free learn-to-sail sessions for Puddle Duckers.”  “So if you have always wanted to learn to sail, this is your chance.”

Contact friendsofyellowcreek@gmail.com for more information or to reserve a spot.
